Kenai Fjords National Park’s best-kept secret

This Remote Fjord folds into five tidewater glaciers and hosts stunning geological formations, calving glaciers, emerald green waters, and scattered waterfalls. Enjoy opportunities to view black bears, coastal birds, and a host of marine mammals.

Return to Geologic Antiquity

The Tidewater Glaciers in Northwestern are more vertical than the tidewater glaciers in Aialik. While Aialik is expansive and gorgeous as well, the glaciers are massive and slowly lope up valleys.  In Northwestern, the glaciers shoot straight up the cliff sides and to the Harding Icefield. Here you will find a moraine that was only created in the last 100 years from retreating glaciers, large scrapes and scars in the sides of the rocks from the weight of the ice, and a lone island colored pink from oxides minerals.

You disembark for two full days, or more if you choose, to explore the park, moving from place to place as our camping system is designed to fit within the kayaks – we are not confined to a base camp! Enjoy paddling, a little hiking, beach comping, or relax by a campfire with your guide and a cup of joe.

Customized Tours for Every Group

Our team of guides will prepare your meals and work to customize your trip to maximize your experience. Enjoy exploring, taking photos, hiking, or paddling all while following the rules and ethics established by the National Park. This area prescribes to Leave No Trace wilderness ethics, and we make every effort to do exactly that.  Kayak guides are trained in assisted rescue techniques, the areas of natural history, and have their wilderness first responder certification to keep you safe in this stunning backcountry environment.

KAYAK CAMP WITH US!

Miller’s Landing owns its own fleet of water taxi vessels and has been operating in Kenai Fjords National Park for 40+ years. As a result, we deliver some of the best as well as safest trips. In the unlikely case of an emergency, we are uniquely positioned to establish prompt and unplanned egress from even the remoteness of the fjords.

Our trips are also all customized to fit your group’s needs. Fill out a survey after you book your spot, and your guide will take care of the rest!

Sit back, relax, and let us cover all the details. Our gear is well cared for, safe, and well-maintained. We put a lot of time into picking our gear so it not only lasts but can carry our guests through any adventure safely and comfortably.

THE WATER TAXI

We utilize our own private 36-foot landing craft that can carry up to 24 passengers. With a 5-star safety rating and music, a heated cabin, windows for viewing the landscape or wildlife, and comfortable seating.

The water taxi ride generally takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on weather, tides, and if we see any wildlife. While the water is usually calm, it can sometimes get bumpy if weather comes in. We do our best to make the ride comfortable, but we can’t control the weather!

TIPS FOR A GREAT TRIP

Be sure to pack comfortable shoes that could get wet, extra socks, and plenty of good layers. There is plenty of storage in the boats for spare clothes, and other items.

We provide you a 25 oz dry bag for your clothes, and an additional bag for on top of the kayak for items like hats, cameras or phones. For longer trips, we can provide you with more dry bags. Ask you guide about additional bags if you think you need one. Reach out if you have questions about gear.

Bringing a Camera? We use sit-in kayaks for this trip, you can have your camera around your neck or in a dry bag. If you are bringing expensive camera gear, consider your own new drybag or a small dry box.
