Employment with Miller's Landing

Come Work With Us!

Miller’s Landing is a recreation and tourism outfitter based in Seward, Alaska, specializing in adventures throughout Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park.

We offer guided sea kayaking trips, fishing charters, water taxi services, and overnight expeditions to remote coastal destinations. Our property includes a campground with RV hookups, a variety of cabins, and the Miller’s Landing Café, which serves meals, snacks, and local gifts. We also partner with nearby operators to book wildlife cruises, flightseeing, dog sled tours, zipline trips, and more.

Each season, we employ over 40 staff members from May through September, alongside a year-round team of six. Working here means being part of a close, adventure-loving crew helping guests experience the best of coastal Alaska.

Wages

We offer competitive wages throughout the company. Shore-based positions are paid an hourly rate, with an average workweek of 40 hours. Marine-based positions aboard our fishing and water taxi boats are based on a salary plus tips. Most marine schedules are an eight- to ten-hour day and a rotating five-to-six-day workweek. Kayak guides/instructors are paid hourly and per trip depending on the tour.

Supervisory positions may be available to qualified returning employees and include additional commitment and responsibilities – just ask! Discussions regarding supervisory roles are at the discretion of Department Managers.

Uniforms & Grooming

We expect all employees to follow and sign our “grooming and dress code” policy per each department. Proper gear depending on your department may also be required. Whether you’re guiding, working in the café, on a charter, or at the front desk, what you wear is both protection and a uniform—showing professionalism, preparedness, and pride in representing Miller’s Landing.

Activities & Benefits

Employees are encouraged to experience all that Miller’s Landing has to offer. Team members are welcome to join our fishing charters, kayaking tours, and water taxi trips—space and schedule permitting. During leisure time, there’s an incredible variety of outdoor activities to enjoy, including hiking, camping, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Our location is surrounded by trails, beaches, and excellent fishing spots right out the back door.

Additional benefits may include opportunities to join wildlife and glacier tours of Kenai Fjords National Park and Resurrection Bay, as well as dog sledding, zipline tours, sailing, river fishing, and flightseeing adventures. We encourage staff to experience these activities early in the season during their off-time so they can better understand the area and confidently share first-hand knowledge with our guests.

Important Rules & Regulations

All employees are subject to the policies and procedures set forth by Miller’s Landing.

Some positions may require pre-employment and/or random drug testing. All employees must complete a pre-employment background check and may be asked to participate in “fitness for duty” evaluations if deemed necessary. Miller’s Landing maintains a zero-tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use during working hours.

Our customers come first — for many, this is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation or destination. Working or living on-site means you’ll be socializing and engaging with guests daily. Every interaction reflects the experience Miller’s Landing is known for, and we expect staff to uphold that standard with positivity, professionalism, and care.

Employees are expected to respect and care for all Miller’s Landing property, housing, and equipment—not just for the sake of coworkers, but for future staff and guests.

We also expect every team member to respect the environment and uphold the values of stewardship in our surrounding state and national parks.

Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. Any violation of this policy will result in immediate termination.

Housing

While we offer housing on the property for full-time employees, it’s important to keep in mind that Miller’s Landing is located about three miles south of town on a dirt road, and we do not provide transportation or food service. We encourage all employees to review local transportation options or bring their own means of travel — bicycle, moped, car, etc.

Some employees choose to live in town, but for those staying on-site, housing options include a bunkhouse with limited space (priority given to returning staff), camping spots, van or camper parking with 30-amp electric, and a variety of cabins that range from retired guest cabins to converted sheds—all cozy and functional in their own unique way. Some have electricity and heat, while others are non-electric dry cabins, offering a more traditional Alaskan experience.

Living on-site at Miller’s Landing is a rustic, community-based lifestyle—simple, close to nature, and built on shared respect. We ask all staff to be considerate of housing spaces, quiet hours, and one another. Keep your area clean and tidy, care for the property, and help maintain a welcoming environment for yourself, your coworkers, and future staff.

If you have any questions about housing options, we’re happy to help and can provide additional details or photos upon request.
