Sea Lions

Your day begins with an early morning departure (6AM!) on our comfortable, US Coast Guard inspected water taxi for a 2 hour wildlife tour and transport to the Kenai Fjords National Park. We will see Steller Sea Lions hauled out on their exposed ocean rookeries, watch Horned and Tufted Puffins skip across the wavelets, and view passing Dalls Porpoise dance with the bow wake of our water taxi boat. We often view feeding Humpback Whales and Orcas passing by, diving Cormorants, Bald Eagles, Mountain Goats, Sea Otters and more!

We will land (~8-8:30AM) in the heart of the Kenai Fjords National Park on one of many beautiful pristine beaches.  Your guide will talk you through your kayak and gear, provide paddling advice, and raise situational awareness. No experience is necessary- our guides are there for you! Once you're properly acquainted, you'll begin paddling along the beautiful fjords and coastal rainforest of Aialik Bay. Enormous calving glaciers are viewed up close and personal from the perspective of a paddler at true sea level, but within a safe viewing distance from both land and sea. You will paddle at a leisurely pace around magnificent icebergs, watch curious harbor seals on ice floes, and often enjoy black bear viewing from the safety of the water. Don't worry! You aren't going kayaking nonstop - we break along the way for a hearty lunch, snacks, and small hikes along the beach.

Seal with Glaciers in the backgroundThe water taxi boat will pick you up in the late afternoon, (~6:30-7:00 PM*), and the crew will load your kayaks and gear. The return trip will explore the Kenai Fjords all the way back to Seward, keeping an eye out for the many whales migrating and feeding through our area.  You will be at Miller's Landing by 9PM or earlier, depending on how exciting our sightseeing options are on the way home.

*Earlier departures are possible from Aialik Bay pending group size- if desired, just ask!

No experience is necessary. All instruction, gear, and meals are provided. This is a full-day trip from 6AM to about 9PM.  It includes 4 hours of sightseeing on the boat (glacier and wildlife viewing) and about 11 hours of leisurely paddling with breaks for lunch, coffee, hot chocolate, snacks, or optional hiking. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and all gear is included. Round-trip water taxi of 100 to 150 miles is included in the cost.

We offer the longest and most economic Aialik day trip in Seward, and the value is truly remarkable.  Viewing the National Park on one of our kayaking excursions allows so much more freedom to explore and interact on a personal level than other options and it's truly cost (and time) effective.

We own our own water taxi boats, and while we book for nearly all of the sightseeing tours in the Seward area and highly recommend them, we encourage people wanting to do a full day kayaking excursion and a full day sightseeing excursion to consider this:

A Full Day National Park Cruise with Major Marine Tours or Kenai Fjords tours, with meals, costs ~$173 + 7% tax per adult

A Full Day Kayaking Trip in Resurrection Bay can cost from ~$179 + 3% tax per person.

Each trip takes 1 whole day of your visit, and totals ~$369.48 including tax per person.

A Full Day Aialik Trip with Miller's Landing (if booking 4 or more) runs $450 + 3% tax for a completely immersive, small group experience!
See the wildlife, interact with the park, kayak amongst icebergs in front of massive calving glaciers! It's your best chance for an action-packed day!
