Big Group Bookings
Because every group is different, there’s no single number that defines a “large group.” It could be a family reunion, school or youth group, corporate outing, tour operator, wedding party, or another organization traveling together. In general, groups of 20 or more guests, or any booking that requires multiple guides, boats, vehicles, or coordinated logistics, are considered large groups.
For the best experience, we recommend booking 6–12 months in advance whenever possible. Early planning gives you the greatest flexibility in choosing your preferred dates, activities, departure times, and accommodations, while helping us coordinate the staff and equipment needed for your group.
We can often accommodate groups on shorter notice, but availability becomes more limited as the season fills. If you’re planning a group trip, reach out as early as you can—we’re happy to help build an itinerary that fits your group’s goals, schedule, and budget.
Large Group Cancellation Policy
-
Large group reservations (as determined by Miller’s Landing based on reservation size, lodging inventory, activities, transportation needs, or total reservation value) require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. Twenty-five percent (25%) of the total reservation value is non-refundable from the time the reservation is confirmed. The deposit reserves inventory, staffing, transportation capacity, and lodging that may otherwise be unavailable to other guests
-
The 25% non-refundable portion of the reservation will be retained regardless of cancellation date, reductions in reservation size, personal circumstances, or changes in travel plans.
-
Small adjustments to guest counts or individual seats may be made before May 1. Larger reductions in guest counts, cabins, campsites, seats, tours, or other reserved inventory may be reviewed and approved at Miller’s Landing’s discretion.
-
The remaining balance of the 50% deposit is due within 30 days of booking. Any remaining balance on the reservation must be paid in full no later than 30 days prior to the scheduled trip. Reservations made within 30 days of the trip date require payment in full at the time of booking.
- Reservations made the year before have until January 1 of the trip year to pay the remaining portion of the initial 50% deposit.
-
Beginning May 1, reductions in guest counts, cabins, campsites, seats, tours, or other reserved inventory will be treated as cancellations and will be subject to our standard cancellation policy. Any applicable non-refundable deposits, including the 25% non-refundable portion of the reservation, remain in effect and are in addition to any cancellation fees or forfeitures resulting from inventory reductions.
Please note: Miller’s Landing encourages only guaranteed prepaid reservations. Unlike many other states, Alaska has a very short tourist season which can make it difficult for us to re-book when we have cancellations without ample notice.
If you are booking a charter and lodging and your charter, water taxi, or kayaking is cancelled due to weather you are still responsible for the lodging or camping reservations and the normal cancellation policy applies. All of our activities are possible during rain, so rain does not constitute a cancellation. Miller’s Landing is not responsible for vehicle break downs, personal emergencies, flight delays, health issues or other unforeseen hardships. We will try very hard to work with you but the cancellation policy will need to be applied if we cannot issue a raincheck or find an alternative solution that appeals to both parties.
Please understand that Miller’s Landing also incurs a hefty financial merchant fee from our bank for the cost of charging your credit card and again for the cost of refunding it, and there is also administrative cost involved for the time involved in processing and refunding your reservation. Our goal when taking your reservation is to have a solid, guaranteed, prepaid reservation. We strongly discourage the practice of making reservations without having an airline ticket or making tentative reservations. Thank you for your understanding.
