Miller’s Landing is a family-run business that started operations shortly after Kenai Fjords National Park was established in 1980 and the tourism industry began to form in Seward. Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic barista to join our team in creating exceptional coffee experiences for our customers. As a barista, you will be responsible for brewing and serving various coffee beverages, including alcoholic beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. – Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages, including espresso-based drinks, drip coffee, teas, and speciality beverages, while adhering to established recipes and quality standards
– Ensure consistent quality by grinding coffee beans, monitoring brewing equipment, and adjusting settings as needed
– Adhere to health and safety guidelines and maintain clean and sanitized workstations
– Greet and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, addressing their preferences and recommending beverages based on their taste
– Accurately process customer orders, handle cash transactions, and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system
– Maintain knowledge of coffee beans, origins, flavours, and preparation methods, and effectively communicate this information to customers when required
– Assist in managing inventory, rotating stock, and restocking supplies to ensure uninterrupted service
– Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive and efficient work environment
– Uphold the company’s values and brand image while providing exceptional service

– Previous experience as a barista or in the food and beverage industry is preferred
– Excellent knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and beverage preparation
– Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
– Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals
– Attention to detail and dedication to maintaining cleanliness and organization
– Ability to work well in a team and contribute to a positive work environment
– Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
– Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, stand for long periods, and move quickly when necessary


– Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes in line with the café menu and quality standards
– Ensure that all food items are prepared and cooked to the highest level of quality and freshness
– Follow recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines consistently to maintain the café’s culinary standards
– Monitor food stock levels and communicate any shortages to the kitchen manager
– Assist in managing inventory, stocking and rotating ingredients, and minimizing waste
– Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth and timely service
– Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations
– Cooperate with the team to maintain a positive and efficient work environment
– Stay updated with industry trends and new cooking techniques, and contribute to the development of new menu items
– Assist with basic kitchen tasks, such as washing dishes, cleaning equipment, and restocking supplies

Cafe General Manager

Job Overview:
Seasonal February through September but potentially year-round for qualified candidates. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the General Manager of our multi-purpose café. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the hospitality industry with a focus on food and beverage operations, as well as extensive experience in managing and coordinating events. This role encompasses overseeing the daily operations of the café, managing a team of staff, coordinating catering events, and ensuring exceptional customer service.

$4,500- 6,000 DOE

Operational Management:
– Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning of the café. Including
offering assistance during peak operations.
– Monitor and maintain quality standards in food and beverage preparation, presentation, and service.
– Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
– Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
– Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and maintain good relationships.

Staff Management:

– Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of café staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to perform their
respective roles.
– Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
– Create schedules, assign duties, and monitor staff performance to ensure a high level of productivity
and customer satisfaction.
– Foster a positive work environment by providing ongoing support, feedback, and recognition to staff

Customer Service:
– Implement strategies to enhance customer experience, satisfaction, and loyalty.
– Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback, ensuring prompt resolution and maintaining a
positive image for the café.
– Regularly interact with customers to build relationships and gain insights to continuously improve

Catering and Events Management:
– Coordinate and execute catering events, ensuring seamless execution from planning to delivery.
– Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, offer menu recommendations, and provide
customized solutions.
– Manage event logistics, including staffing, set-up, equipment and coordination with vendors as
– Monitor event budgets, track expenses, and ensure profitability.


– Previous experience in a management role within the hospitality industry, ideally in a café or
