Fox Island Spit is a great place to go for kayaking or camping. It is
located on the North end of Fox Island, and there are good kayaking
opportunities from here. You can either head north to kayak Humpy Cove or
Thumb’s Cove, or head south through the El Dorado Narrows, going by the
Sea Lion Haulouts, and Bird Rookeries, and around Fox Island. This is a
world class paddle.
During the summer months of mid July, and August there are also good
fishing opportunities for salmon right off the beach there as well as
excellent beachcombing. Many people choose this as a place for remote
camping to relax or kayak.
Sunny Cove is located on Fox Island, about 13 water miles south of
Seward, and is a very good destination for camping overnight if you are
kayaking, or just camping overnight. There are beautiful pristine beaches
and lush rainforest environments for hiking, as well as tall wooded areas.
There is good salmon fishing for silver salmon from Mid July through
August at Sunny Cove from the beach.
