Water Taxi Services: General
Information
Best Water Taxi Prices in Seward!
**If you find a better water taxi rate then ours, we will match
it**
One
of our most popular services at Miller’s Landing is our water
taxi service. Water taxis are inexpensive, and are a great way to go
camping, kayaking, fishing, hiking or sightseeing to remote areas only
accessible by water.
We offer water taxi service to all
points in Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords National Park using
large safe boats with enclosed cabins and U.S. Coast Guard licensed
operators. Our vessels have heated cabins and plenty of room to haul
kayaks, camping gear, mountain bikes and backpacks and can take up to 16
passengers at one time. We also occasionally use a big open skiff for
short runs. Miller’s Landing staff can assist you in planning the ideal
water taxi destination for your group.
Why should you choose Miller's Landing Water Taxis?
- *Unlike any other kayaking company,
Miller's Landing owns and operates three water taxi vessels making it
possible to transport you to the most beautiful pristine kayaking
spots... filled with wildlife ad beautiful scenery! Our water
taxi landing crafts are brand new, custom designed and five star rate
for safety.
- They are heated, comfortable, have
music and are entertaining! They are hands down the very nicest
water taxis in all of Seward, maybe even all of Alaska! One
vessel is a custom designed 16 passenger vessel built by Kvichak
Marine in Seattle. Another is a custom
designed vessel built by Pac Man.
Our smaller six passenger skiff is also sometimes used when the other
taxies are unavailable, to prevent you from being delayed and getting
everyone where they want to go on time!
- There are no hidden "add ons" for
extra charges for water taxi costs. We do charge State Park Fees
where required and Sales Tax but our sales tax is only 3% here instead
of the higher 7% tax that is in town.
- As a result, we are able to offer
our guests better prices, passing the savings on to you. We will
also guarantee the best prices for any comparable tour. And, we
offer custom tours if you ask, and discounted group rates.
- We offer a free shuttle bus to pick
up our clients in the Seward downtown and harbor area, saving you even
more money in taxi costs. (advanced noticed needed). Also, there
are no parking fees for parking at Miller's Landing like there are in
the Harbor area. The Harbor area is $5 to $10 a day for parking.
- Imagine the hassles of parking at
the Seward Small Boat Harbor, transporting all of your gear, kayaks
and belongings to a slip that is difficult and time consuming to get
to. Then having to track back to your vehicle, find a place to
park (and paying for it) and then hurrying back down to the dock to
get on the boat. We never load from the Boat Harbor. We
load from our beautiful oceanfront lodge instead. Now, imagine
what it is like at Miller's Landing... Sitting in our nice comfortable
waterfront lodge, watching the sea otters and eagle while sipping free
coffee and the Captain yells, "All Aboard!" And you simply walk
outside, we load up your gear for you, you get on the boat, and
presto! We are on our way! How simple is that?
- Unlike other water taxi services, we
have several boats going out all day long, offering you the best
opportunity for water taxi times.
- We know your time is valuable when
you are on vacation. Miller's Landing is located right on the
oceanfront on beautiful Lowell Point. Our water taxi departs
right from our beach and so do our kayaks. There are no time
consuming transports of kayaks to get from town to the beach. We
leave right from here!
- Unfortunately, transporting kayaks
by vehicle from Seward to Lowell Point (where all kayaking paddles
begin) causes the kayak you will paddling in to become dusty and
dirty. Add water, and you have "mud"... Our kayaks have never
been transported by vehicle... And they are cleaned each time they are
used.
- We are a family run business, and
Alaskan homesteaders. We have been in business far longer than
any other company, since 1983.
- We like to show off the most
beautiful, scenic areas on our water taxi. The water taxi makes
all that possible!
Calendar
To
give our customers a better idea on when we are going out to LaTouche

charge. We can drop you off almost anywhere, at hiking trail heads,
camping spots, fishing streams, State or National Park cabins, good

single and double kayaks available to rent and can arrange a special

Seward: Miller's Landing: "Competent and
safe"
Date: August 14, 2003
Reviewer: A TripAdvisor User, Seward AK
I haven't stayed at their cabins, though they seem comfortable,
but I have used their water taxi extensively for two summers to
get to an archaeological excavation in Kenai Fjords National
Park. The captain of the Michael A (a water taxi) Sherri Miller,
has a nice, calm demeanor, and her competence is obvious after
five minutes on the water. No machismo, no bluster, just a sense
of the water and the limits of her boat and what conditions are
safe. She knows when to turn around. She keeps track of all the
details and is genuinely concerned for the her clients,
especially if weather has prevented her from picking them up at
the anticipated time. She is thorough and helpful. Miller's
Landing is as close as you'll get to the proverbial "Real
Alaska". Its a family run business. All the accoutrements like
signs and boardwalks and nightly events are homey and hand-made.
When its raining, you can hang out in the lodge where endless
coffee is available. When the weather is good, you can kayak or
walk the trails or fish. Nice place. Nice folks.

Water Taxi Schedule and Rates

Water Taxi Departure Times |
|
Departures are from Lowell Point
leave approximately every hour. There are three
water taxi vessels: One is the large water taxi vessel
"Michael A" which is a 36 foot landing craft, carrying
16 passengers. It exceeds the 5 star safety rating and has music, full
electronics, a heated cabin, comfortable seating and
large windows for wildlife viewing. The "Michael
A." services Resurrection Bay, Day Harbor, Kenai
Fjords National Park, Aialik Bay, Northwestern Fjord,
and the
Nuka Bay area. We sometimes will do custom trips
to the Prince William Sound area as well.
The second vessel is
a 32 foot landing craft, also five star rated for
safety, that takes six passengers. This taxi
services Resurrection Bay, Day Harbor, Kenai Fjords
National Park, Aialik Bay, Northwester Fjord, and the
Nuka Bay areas. We sometimes will do custom trips
to the the Prince William Sound area as well.
The third vessel is a
smaller water taxi vessel doing transports in an
open-aired 24 foot skiff, and carries six passengers.
This water taxi services Resurrection Bay area only.
Lastly we also have a
friend with a water taxi vessel available every day
assisting with Kenai Fjords National Park, Day Harbor,
Nuka Bay area and the Prince William Sound area as well
as Resurrection Bay areas, so if we cannot do the taxi,
we can refer you to him.
Salty Water Taxi:
our 6 passenger Salty Water Taxi is available for
unscheduled or after hours trips at the Captain’s
discretion for an additional fee of $15 per person
with a two person minimum.
*Note: Michael A is normally used for
morning (6 AM to 10AM) and evening (5 PM to 9 PM)
fishing trips or wildlife/sightseeing charters or custom
charters. For more information on fishing charters in
the evening, please see our fishing section of the
website.
Departures may leave from
either Miller's Landing or the Lowell Point State Park
Recreational Area. Please contact Miller's Landing for
departure locations for specific dates and times.
Please plan to be ready 30 minutes prior to departure.
The water taxi will not be able to wait for you if you
are not ready to go at the time of departure and you
will need to be rescheduled to the next available time.
Most water taxi times include guided kayaking paddles
that are on a timed schedule and delays will cause the
schedule to be offset for the rest of the day, so we
must leave on time. Please allow time for parking,
registering for water taxi, loading and transporting
gear to the water taxi loading area; using the restroom,
etc. During low tide loading/offloading will take place
at the south beach area of Lowell Point which may
require more time than 30 minutes for parking
arrangements, loading, etc. Please take this into
consideration. If you are renting a kayak from us for
your water taxi trip, please allow extra time for the
kayak rental procedure and check out procedure. |
