If you are visiting Seward for the first time,
you should not miss
going on a wildlife and glacier tour to the beautiful Kenai Fjords
National Park! This is one of the main highlights of the Seward
area. On the tours you will see beautiful calving glaciers, alpine
and piedmont glaciers, and lots of wildlife. Watch for majestic
whales, soaring eagles, comical puffins, huge sea lions, playful sea
otters, mountain goats jumping from cliff to cliff, black bears,
hundreds of sea birds, Dall porpoise (who love to play with the
boats) and more!
The tours are done by boat and there are several
different options ranging from full day tours, half day tours, tours
on large boats and small boat alternative tours. You can even
arrange a wildlife/glacier tour that is combined with fishing! Some
tours offer meals on board; or choices where you can stop on a
remote island for lunch and then continue on with the tour. Each
tour is unique and offers something special!

How To Choose A Tour: First, try to decide if you would like a half day tour, or a full
day tour. We always recommend going on the full day tours because
the full day tours go to the calving glaciers (and the half day
tours go to the alpine and piedmont glaciers only). Also you will
usually see more wildlife on the full day tours. Some full day tours
will go farther than others. The farthest/longest tours are the ones
that go to Northwestern Fjords.
If you don’t have a lot of time to do a full day tour, or your party
tends to get seasick, you may wish to consider a half day tour. The
half day tours stay inside Resurrection Bay and the water inside the
bay is usually calmer than on the full day tours. Often times those
who tend to get seasick also choose a larger boat which tends to be
more stable for a full day tour. Another consideration is if you
would like to be on a tour where a park ranger narrates the tour
(versus the Boat Captain); or if you would prefer to have an “all
you can eat prime rib and salmon buffet served to you on board the
boat” or perhaps stop at a remote island for lunch instead.
There
are some tours that go farther than other tours (to Northwestern
Fjords). And lastly you should decide if you would prefer a tour on
a larger boat (more stable) or one of the popular smaller boat
alternatives (which would take 6 to 22 people). Many people really
enjoy the smaller boat alternatives for a more personalized tour. We
can even arrange fishing, wildlife & glacier tours!
The list below has broken down the tours by category. Simply choose the tour
you want and it will take you to that page of the website! Note:
