A typical day of fishing has you checking in at our office about a half
hour before the trip is set to start. We will make sure everyone has a
valid fishing license, all the right clothing and gear and
any last minute paper work. We provide hip boots, rain gear (if needed),
all the rods, reels & tackle and, of course, life jackets. You'll need a
few layers of warm clothing (the river is often cool in the morning),
your lunch, sun glasses (polarized glasses are strongly recommended) and
a hat with a brim. Oh and a happy smile is a good thing to bring along
too. |

Goodnews
River |
| |
• 7 days, 6 night
• $3995/per person from Dillingham |
| |
Serene &
beautiful, this is the best of the Silver
Salmon/Alaska fishing trips to be found anywhere based on the number,
size and freshness of fish. Yum! The Goodnews is a fisherman's dream
river. It threads its way through the Ahklun Range and from the
headwaters to our take-out, these emerald mountains are never far away.
The river offers some of the finest fishing in Alaska. Up to 10 species
of fish can be caught in a single float. The stars of the river are the
Silvers. Add excellent fishing for Rainbows, extraordinary numbers of
Dollies & Arctic Char, big Grayling and even a few Lake Trout. Only the
Goodnews has it all. The river is in the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge
and we are one of only 9 operators permitted on the river.
We are limited to only 4 trips each year and they
fill quickly. Book early if you want to float this
spectacular river. |
Alagnak
River |
| |
• 7 days, 6 nights
• $3495/per person from King Salmon |
 |
| |
It is an extraordinary experience to share this river with the
bears of Katmai Park. They know good fishing too. The fishing is
extraordinary and the river is beautiful. The river begins in the
Aleutian Mountains and flows through Katmai National Park. It is a
spectacular fishing trip and this float always delivers the chance to
view bears fishing. The river offers few rapids and our guides easily
sneak you through the only serious water. The attractions of the Alagnak
are the great fishing, beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. Up to 8
species of fish can be caught in a single float. King Salmon run up to
50 lbs. Silver fishing can be excellent with fish up to 15 lbs. But the
river is host to literally millions of Red Salmon and this is why we
return every July. This is one of the great Trout streams of the world
and a trip in September offers the opportunity to tie into a truly huge
Rainbow. Fish over 10 lbs are not uncommon and most of the fish caught
are over 20 inches long. Fall finds the tundra blazing with color and
many animals down by the river. It is a great time to be in Alaska. |
Lake
Creek |
|
|
• 6 days, 5 nights
• $2995/per person from Anchorage |
| |
Lake Creek is a
great river for families and fishermen alike and perfect for
those who want to float a beautiful wild river. Which includes miles of
fun, whitewater, Mt .McKinley upstream, good fishing and wildlife. Much
of Lake Creek's 55 mile length is spiked with fun, rocky class III
rapids and a few drops that are class IV. A string of old trappers
cabins dots the river's course, upstream views frequently frame Mt.
McKinley and short side hikes lead us to bountiful berry patches and
excellent views of the Alaska Range. Its rocky course creates many
holes, pockets and drifts and much of the river is ideal for the fly
fisherman. The river hosts good Salmon runs along with Rainbow Trout and
Grayling fishing. This diversity makes Lake Creek one of the finest
float trips in Alaska. An optional extension will let you spend a few
nights in Cooper Landing. Not only is this a great option for the
fisherman who wants a few more days of prime fishing, it is a wonderful
experience for the whole family. |

Gold Panning experience. |
The Paddle & Saddle |
|
|
•
7 hours - $199/per person plus tax •
Includes lunch •
Daily departures at 9 AM |
For even more adventure, this
combines the float with a horseback ride into the Alaskan wilderness.
The Trail Ride takes you into the Mountains above Cooper Landing or
along a scenic lake & creek depending on the experience of the group.
Both are spectacular and for many folks the highlight of their vacation.
The scenic float shows off the beauty of the Upper Kenai River Valley
and all of it’s wildlife & abundant bird life. This serene stretch of
river is fun and safe for all ages & abilities. In between the Paddle
and the Saddle, you’ll have a hearty lunch and work your way through
some pay dirt in the traditional way. We get the dirt from a historic
mining claim in Cooper Landing. We never know what to expect for gold
– sometimes it is, “WOW! Look what we got”. And then there are other
times, that aren’t so wow. You’ll have your own sluice box to work your
dirt – quite an interesting process – and it’s fun to examine the rocks
and watch for gold. When finished, the riffles are removed from the
sluice box and we clean the remains (black sand) into a gold pan. Then
you sit comfortably in front of a tub of water and pan it out. We do not
‘salt’ the dirt; you suffer the same fate as every miner. The gold in
this country is normally fine. However, at times, we get small flakes
and nuggets. There's usually ‘color’ in your pan. |
You can also choose one of our float fishing trips on Alaska's best
wilderness rivers. These are ideal for independent fishermen who want to
fish on premium Alaskan freshwater streams.
