Kasilof Trips: The Kasilof River is located approximately 15 minutes south of Soldotna. The Kasilof is a drift boat only river, which means no outboard motors are allowed. This creates a peaceful trip with no noise and all the boats going in one direction, down river. We target kings, reds, silvers and steelhead salmon on this river. While on the trip have your camera ready because you are likely to see wildlife such as moose, bears, bald eagles and other birds and animals. The Kasilof River experiences three major runs of salmon during the Alaska fishing season: First Run King Salmon (Middle May to Late June) You can expect these Kings to average between 15 and 25 pounds. These salmon are primarily return hatchery fish with only few being native (native kings must be released). Second Run King Salmon (Late June to July 31st) These trophy-class King Salmon will average 35 to 50 pounds or bigger! After July 1st you can keep native kings and native kings tend to be big fish. First Run Silver Salmon (August 1st to September 31st) this is a fairly long run of salmon, running all the way through October. Kasilof silver salmon average 7 to 12 pounds, but it is not uncommon to catch an 18 pounder. We target steelhead on the upper river from September through October. Fishing regulations for the Kasilof River: One king per day/ three kings per a season (only fish with a hatchery-clipped adipose fin, as evidenced by a healed scar, may be kept.) Wild and hatchery kings can be kept July 1 to 31. Two Silver Salmon per day Two Steelhead a day, only one over 20” long
Kenai Trips The mighty Kenai River is home to the world record king salmon (97lbs 4oz). If you want to catch huge kings this is the river to do it on. Kings average 35 to 60lbs on this river and it’s common to catch kings in excess of 70lbs. We target kings, reds, silvers, pinks (on even # years), dolly varden, and rainbow trout. The Kenai River is also famous for its red salmon fishing; mid June to late August is when they run strong. Red salmon are widely known for their performance on the plate, they are considered to be the best tasting salmon of all. Fishing regulations for the Kenai River One King Salmon per a day/two per a season Three Red Salmon per a day Two Silver Salmon per a day Three Pink Salmon per a day One Rainbow Trout per a day Two Dolly Varden per a day Boat and Gear We fish out of a roomy19’ Willie drift boat which is equipped to fish four people comfortably. Our boat is equipped with cushioned seats, heating and has plenty of storage space for your belongings. We use high quality GLoomis fishing rods and Abu Garcia
