"What I love about Miller's Landing is that it is a bit of the
real Alaska set in one of the most heavily visited spots in the
state. Real people own it and real people work there, not
managed by some slick Outside company. Sure, the facilities are
rustic and a little out of date, but that, to me, is part of the
charm of this place (I might note, however, that their boats
they use for charters are top rate). Neighborhood dogs roam the
area, just like in the bush villages, and there are a couple who
would join me for my early morning daily walk. They were good
company. I found the employees friendly and helpful (for
instance, our picnic table was listing to port, so I mentioned
it to one of the employees, and it was fixed and ready for heavy
duty picnicking within the hour). We have two young daughters,
and they love the place like myself and my wife.
I would unabashedly recommend Miller's Landing to any and all.
It's a great place to visit with genuine people running the
place. I might note to some of the complainers that there is
great power in a smile and a friendly hello. You might be amazed
at the response you will get, especially from good Alaskans like
those who run and manage and work at Miller's Landing ."

Good News - the Campground gets
DEC Approval! Aug 5, 2009:
Please note; Our showers and bathrooms ARE outdated. We have been
trying for 4 years to get them replaced. The good news is the DEC in
Alaska has finally approved our new engineering plans for the
bathrooms and showers and we are excited to report that we will be
starting building them this fall and next spring and expect them to
be done either next year or the following year. To compensate for
our showers etc.... we are the only campground in Seward that does
not charge for showers (they are free). The new showers,
unfortunately will be paid showers though to recoup the cost (over
$150,000 for new showers and bathrooms due to engineering.) |
